Issues

Increasing affordable housing options

I believe that affordable housing options are one solution to breaking a cycle that prevents accumulation of wealth and prosperity for many people. Affordable housing benefits homeowners as well as their communities.

Sustainable land use practices

Sustainable land use practices are important for ensuring our continued well-being and also for economic reasons. Sustainable land use practices contribute to resiliency and continued economic prosperity while also promoting health and a high quality of life.

Invest in local public education

Schools are filled to capacity. We need to review and update the method used to forecast public school attendance. We also need to ensure teachers and schools have the resources needed to effectively address issues such as learning disabilities.

Fun Fact

I love the outdoors, and among other outdoor activities I was a competitive mountain biker for years. One of my happiest biking days was finishing the SM100, a 100-mile backcountry race in Stokesville, VA. I was one of the last finishers but I did it! This race is unlike any other I've done, and I love how it brings people together in an atmosphere that's both competitive and festive. These days I don't race and am happy to find time to ride with friends on routes that are old favorites, as well as explore new ones. Our twin girls are now big enough to ride in the bike trailer so I'm looking forward to a lot of rides with them in tow.
