"Evan McMichael: Leading Louisiana to a Stronger Future!"

Issues

Invest in local public education

We need to provide more high school students with trade school opportunities. Many young adults who are not college-bound would still flourish as craftsmen and other skilled workers, which Louisiana desperately needs.

Invest in crime prevention

To reduce the crime rate and help eliminate recidivism, we need to invest in genuine rehabilitation for offenders who can be put on the right path. I believe in more probation sentences for first-time, nonviolent offenders, with more education and employment opportunities to get them out of the criminal lifestyle at an early stage.

Invest in local businesses

We need to simplify the tax code and eliminate red tape for local businesses. This will give entrepreneurs the freedom to pursue their dreams, which will result in more employment and wealth in our local communities.

About me

I'm Evan McMichael, an attorney and lover of the outdoors, running for State House of Representatives in District 6 as an Independent candidate. Having worked as a public defender in Caddo Parish, I have witnessed the flaws in our criminal justice system and the patterns that lead individuals to lives of crime. I'm dedicated to working with the Department of Corrections to end recidivism and lower Louisiana's crime rate. Additionally, I believe in investing in local public education, providing more trade school opportunities for high school students who may flourish as skilled workers. To reduce crime and eliminate recidivism, I advocate for genuine rehabilitation for offenders, especially first-time, nonviolent offenders, with increased access to education and employment opportunities. Supporting small businesses is another important aspect of my platform. By simplifying the tax code and eliminating red tape, we can empower local entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams and bring more employment and wealth to our communities. Let's make Louisiana a better place for everyone.

Past Experience

After getting admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2021, I began working as a public defender in Caddo Parish. After handling hundreds of criminal cases, I began to notice not only how the criminal justice system could be improved, but also about other patterns which routinely led people to criminal lifestyles. My experience in criminal law gives me the background to truly work with the Department of Corrections to end recidivism and lower Louisiana's crime rate.
