Ensuring accessibility in public buildings and infrastructure
I am currently a resident member of our city’s ADA committee. I have repeatedly found that our staff is not requiring developers to update or install ADA access for all users. I have been told that we have to wait for 5-10 years for these corrections to be made at taxpayers expense. If elected ( and even if not) I will continue to broadcast this issue and insist that our mayor correct this practice
Encouraging increased public involvement in local issues
During the pandemic all public meetings were held via zoom. The public stepped away from full participation in decisions being made by elected officials. I pledge to hold monthly District meetings to explain proposed ordinances, budget items and policies. It would not only increase public participation but would also be a good way for me to vote for my constituents desires
Increase affordable housing
Work with local building associations to build on existing city surplus lands to construct not for profit housing in my community

About me
Hello, my name is Jane Rebelowski and I am running for City Council in District 4 as an Independent candidate. I am a retired Public Works Inspector/Senior Engineering Specialist and a former union member for over 30 years. With my understanding of municipal government and my involvement in community events, I believe I can be a valuable member of our City Council. I have lived in our community for 25 years and have a deep understanding of the issues we face. One area that I am passionate about is ensuring accessibility in public buildings and infrastructure. As a resident member of our city’s ADA committee, I have noticed a lack of progress in requiring developers to update or install ADA access for all users. It is concerning to hear that taxpayers may have to wait 5-10 years for these corrections to be made. If elected, I will make it my priority to address this issue and make sure that our mayor takes action to correct this practice. Even if I am not elected, I will continue to advocate for accessibility and push for positive change. A fun fact about me is that my late husband was a well-known writer of autobiographical comics, which inspired my own involvement in creative activities within our community. Thank you for your support.

Why I'm Running
I am Jane Rebelowski, and I am running for City Council in District 4 as a member of the Independent party. As a retired individual with experience as a Public Works Inspector and union member for over 30 years, I have a deep understanding of how municipal government operates and the issues our community faces. I am dedicated to ensuring accessibility in public buildings and infrastructure, as I am currently a resident member of our city's ADA committee and have witnessed the neglect in requiring developers to update or install ADA access. This disregard for accessibility negatively affects the lives of individuals with disabilities, and I am committed to advocating for their rights. If elected, I will use my knowledge and dedication to push for changes and hold our mayor accountable for improving accessibility without burdening taxpayers. Even if not elected, I will continue to raise awareness about this issue and demand action to correct this practice.
