Ranked Choice Voting

I support implementing Ranked Choice Voting in all federal and state elections. Using RCV ensures that the winner of any particular election does so by securing no less than a majority of the votes cast rather than winning with 25-30% of the overall vote. Ranked Choice Voting should be combined with a top four nonpartisan primary in all races with the exception of the Presidential Primary nominating contests.

About me

Hi there, my name is Jared Alper and I am excited to be running for City Council as an Independent. My career has been dedicated to solving the greatest challenge facing the United States – the deteriorating health of American politics and civic life. As a political strategist, I have managed campaigns for public office of all sizes, advising organizations working to change the structural rules that incentivize extreme polarization and tribalism in campaigns and government. My diverse experience has allowed me to acquire the skills necessary to represent our community members in City Council. As a passionate advocate for newly diagnosed cancer patients, I know first-hand how important it is to have a support system during tough times. My diagnosis at the age of 18 led me to focus on this important issue and provide help to those facing similar challenges. I'm committed to making sure that people in our community have access to quality healthcare and support services. On top of supporting newly diagnosed cancer patients, I care deeply about early childhood education, ranked choice voting, and creating pet-friendly public spaces and amenities. Our children are the future of our city, which is why I'm fully committed to investing in universal pre-K and after-school programs. I strongly support implementing ranked choice voting in all federal and state elections, ensuring that the winner of any particular election secures no less than a majority of the votes cast. Lastly, creating pet-friendly public spaces and amenities is dear to my heart – our animals deserve to be taken care of and accommodated in public spaces as well. These issues represent just a few of the many ways I believe we can make our city a better place to live. As your City Council member, my top priority will be prioritizing your needs and ensuring our community continues to thrive.
