"Empower Arkansas - Your Voice, Your Future, Your State Matters"
"Together, Let's Put the Public Back in Public Service, Public Policy and Public Interest"
I am a dedicated and experienced Elections Coordinator, with a background in various fields ranging from non-profit work and paralegal skills to legislative drafting and self-publishing. As a veteran, former educator, a radio talk show host, and an Advanced EMT, I have seen firsthand the impact that laws can have on individuals and communities, particularly those that lack the power and resources to appropriately respond. In my roles as the lead redistricting cartographer on the Arkansas Fair & Equitable Mapping Awareness, Planning & Action Team, and as the Elections Coordinator at the Arkansas Public Policy Panel, I have witnessed the negative effects of mean-spirited legislation passed by power hungry political parties and out-of-state special interests. This has motivated me to step up and become the agent for change in the current abusive relationship between the legislature and the citizens of Arkansas. With a passion for fair play and even-handedness, and a commitment to serving the known and unknown needs of our various and diverse communities, I am determined to make a difference and ensure that the voices of all people are heard and respected. I believe my unique perspective and extensive background make me a valuable candidate for the State House of Representatives.
Why I'm Running
Hello! My name is Kwami Abdul-Bey, and I am a candidate for the State House of Representatives in District 69. Allow me to take a moment to share with you why I decided to run and what I hope to accomplish, if elected.
In 2020, I became a redistricting cartographer as a member of the Arkansas Fair & Equitable Mapping Awareness, Planning & Action Team. Since 2021, I have worked as the Elections Coordinator at the Arkansas Public Policy Panel. During that time, I've seen some things that concern me. Over the last few legislative sessions, I've noticed an increase in laws that seem to be more about serving out-of-state special interests than the needs of our own citizens. It's time for transformative change.
I've had a pretty diverse background, having worked as a paralegal, a legislative drafter, and even as a radio & television personality. I'm also a veteran, a former classroom teacher, and a former Advanced EMT. I've learned a lot from these experiences, and I believe they have prepared me to work with the people of District 69 to tackle the issues facing our community.
My main goal is to restore a respectful and supportive relationship between our state legislature and its citizens. I want to make sure that our voices are heard and that the decisions being made actually reflect the needs and concerns of our district and our state.
I care deeply about our community, and I want to create a better Arkansas that thrives of fairness and even-handedness. I believe in listening to the needs of all citizens, regardless of their backgrounds or beliefs. Together, we can make a difference and build a better future for ourselves and our children. So, I'm asking for your support and your vote to represent all of us in District 69 in the State House of Representatives.
