About me

I am Scoop Green, an Operations Manager at the YMCA and a candidate for City Council in the Unexpired at-large position as an Independent. In my free time, I coached multiple sports teams for my son and still maintain a connection with one of my former players. For the past 19 years, my family has called Holly Springs home, and we have actively participated in the community by volunteering as coaches, hosting food drives for the Holly Springs Food Cupboard, and supporting the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Throughout my 20 plus years in the non-profit industry, I have developed qualities such as compassion, humility, and gratitude by prioritizing the needs of others. As the Executive Director of the Holly Springs Chamber, I successfully managed various events and established strong relationships with civic and business leaders in Wake County. I also served on several important committees, including the Wake Educational Partnership Quality Matters Committee and the Regional Transportation Alliance Board. I am committed to being an advocate for Holly Springs and would love to share my plans and ideas with you, your family, neighbors, and friends. Let's work together to make a positive impact on our town.

Past Experience

My family has called Holly Springs home for 19 years. My wife and I have been active in the community as volunteer coaches for our boys sports teams, hosting food drives for the Holly Springs Food Cupboard, recruiting a group to manage water stops for the Law Enforcement Torch Run. I picked up the bagels and delivered them to the volunteers at Hope Community Church when the service was at Holly Springs High School.  During my 20 plus years in the non-profit/not for profit industry I spent my time putting other people first. I became more humble, compassionate, grateful and giving. I never made a lot of money in my career, however I was able to raise money for programs that offered services to those who needed some help. As the Executive Director of the Holly Springs Chamber, I created, implemented & managed the Chamber Champion Program, State of the Town/State of the County Forum, Partners Breakfast Event, Fall Golf Outing, and the Developers Tour of Holly Springs, Recruited  Novant Health to build a hospital in Holly Springs. I developed & fostered professional relationships with civic leaders, business leaders, and elected officials throughout all of Wake County.  I served on the Wake Educational Partnership Quality Matters Committee, Regional Transportation Alliance Board, and the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau Conference Table Advocacy Group. Would love to hear from you, contact me to share with you, your family, neighbors, and friends how I plan to be an advocate for Holly Springs as a Town Councilman.

Fun Fact

I coached three baseball teams and one basketball team for my son when he was younger for the Holly Springs Parks & Rec. I now live near one of my former players who continued to play into high school. It was great to continue to have this connection long after I stopped coaching.
