Issues

Early childhood education

Support of Local Teachers and Educators Education is the cornerstone of our society, and our teachers are the key to preparing our children for adulthood. Even within our area I believe in supporting our teachers in every way possible. This means using our power to support our teachers by providing them with all the resources that they need to be successful in the classroom. Our local educators deserve to know that their local governing body also seeks to provide support in measures in which we are capable to to fullest of our ability. Only when we foster an environment that supports and values our educators can we be assured that our children are being effectively and safely educated.

Celebrating and promoting cultural diversity

I Believe that Diversity of voice and Equity in our Community must be intentionally addressed. I am committed to insure a diverse community where all people are treated equally under the law, Everyone's voice is vital and when given and opportunity everyone can achieve their goals and dreams, regardless of their racial, ethnic, or socio-economic background.

Increasing affordable housing options

Affordable Housing is a critical issue in zip code 27278. I am committed to working with local communities and relevant agencies to determine a solution that will help us provide affordable housing for all families in the area. No family should have to live in unsafe, unsanitary conditions or in areas where crime and danger are prevalent.

About me

Victoria Masika: Running for County Commissioner

It is my great pleasure to introduce myself as a candidate for County Commissioner in this upcoming election. My name is Victoria Masika, and I am an Independent with a strong commitment to this community. As a teacher of over 15 years, former academic dean, ministry leader, caretaker, and proud mother of three, I believe my unique experiences and perspective will allow me to be an effective leader for all of our community members.

I am deeply committed to seeing positive change within our communities, promoting safety, and creating an environment that allows families to thrive. I believe in working collaboratively with community members to address their concerns.

My Qualifications

With my academic qualifications in English Arts Education (B.A), Educational Leadership and Management (M.Ed), and a School Management and Educational Leadership certificate from Harvard Business School, I bring an astute understanding of the educational system. My experience enables me to recognize the struggles teachers face daily, trying to improve the lives of children, often with fewer resources, low pay, and when little to no voice in how decisions are made concerning them and their students.

As a caretaker of my grandmother and mother, I understand the challenges that many families face. I am committed to ensuring all members of our community, young and old, have access to quality healthcare.

My Principles

Above all, I am a Christian and a servant leader, and I approach everything that I do from this perspective with enthusiasm and dedication. I believe that every person has a right to life, and therefore, I advocate for the protection of life in and out of the womb. Similarly, as a teacher, I know what a vital role education plays in shaping the future of our society. I aim to make our schools safer, promote the interests of teachers, and ensure that education is affordable.

My vision for the community is one of equity and fairness. The Black Lives Matter movement has shone a light on the struggle of black and marginalized communities, and as a county commissioner, I will work towards promoting policies that promote racial equality, reduce profiling and educate on microaggression. Similarly, I firmly believe that sensible gun laws can protect people from gun violence.

My Commitment to You

I want to work with you to ensure that our community thrives. I am committed to listening to the concerns of our community members, working towards solutions that benefit everyone, and making transparent decisions that reflect the views and needs of our community.

Together, we can address the needs of our community to ensure that we have access to quality education, healthcare, and a safe environment. I promise to be accountable, transparent, and inclusive in my leadership. Your faith in me is not misplaced, and together, we can bring positive change to this community.

Conclusionu

In conclusion, I am running for County Commissioner to be a voice for our community. I bring a unique perspective to the table - as an educator, a caretaker, and a ministry leader - all of which help me understand the unique needs of our community. I am committed to promoting positive change, and together, we can achieve our goal of a safer, fairer, and more equitable future for all.

Why I'm Running

As a teacher and a servant leader, I am running for County Commissioner because I want to see changes happen within our communities that allow families to thrive and communities to be safe. As an educator of over 15 years and a former Academic Dean, I have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children. In his same field, I've also held the role of Educational leadership observed the tireless way teachers strive to work hard for their students often with little resources, low pay and little to no voice in how decisions are made that concern them and their students.

As a mom of three, caretaker of an aging parent, and a local outreach ministry leader, I understand the concerns of families with aging loved ones who want the best for them and health care and nursing home communities that allow their loved ones to receive proper care. I am committed to supporting teachers by listening to their concerns with overworking, more demands, frequent changes without teacher input, safety for teachers, and low pay.

The issues that matter to me are those that affect families and children in our communities. I care about the sanctity of life and believe that abortion is morally wrong at every stage of pregnancy and should be legally prohibited and socially rejected. I also believe in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and addressing the issues of race, racism, profiling, and microaggressions that happen daily in our society.

I am committed to eliminating the cap on Social Security income and to supporting affordable college and housing. I also believe that guns should be less accessible to lower the occurrence of atrocities. I will work with local communities and relevant agencies to determine solutions that will help us provide affordable housing for all families in the area. No family should have to live in unsafe, unsanitary conditions or in areas where crime and danger are prevalent.
