I, Vincent Perez, am running for the office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction as a member of the Independent party. As a Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Equity Institute, my mission is rooted in sustaining the integrity, courage, and commitment of children, families, and service providers.
I am deeply moved by opportunities to witness students discover their voices and affirm their self-worth. With a focus on cross-racial solidarity, intersectional social justice, Indigenous epistemology, and emancipatory education, I aim to create meaningful learning experiences that honor the dignity and identities of participants.
My dedication to education extends beyond academics. I am committed to building a comprehensive mental health infrastructure within our schools, increasing access to counselors, providing mental health education, and reducing stigma surrounding mental health issues.
I believe every child deserves equal access to a quality education, and I am dedicated to dismantling systemic inequalities. I will advocate for policies that remove barriers to access, empower students to be active participants in their learning, and ensure a more just and equitable education system.
To prepare students for the future, I will foster educational innovation that embraces new teaching methods and technology. By cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and supporting engaging and relevant curricula, I will empower students to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
With my leadership and expertise, I will work tirelessly to transform our education system and ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
