Business Operations Manager (Remote)

GoodParty.org is looking for a driven, analytical Business Operations Manager with 5+ years work experience who is a top notch systems builder, project manager, and cross-functional problem solver. You’ll be the backbone for our remote startup as we scale our impact.

While mainstream media and the two major parties focus on federal elections (Congress and the President), GoodParty.org is building from the bottom up. With over 500,000 elected offices in the United States, 70% of which are uncontested, GoodParty.org is powering a grassroots revolution to take back our communities from career politicians by helping real people run and win local and state-level campaigns all across the country.

And, it’s working! Starting with 11 wins in the 2023 election cycle, GoodParty.org has already powered over 250 wins by independents in 2024. We’re on our way to over 1,000 wins in 2024. 

Looking ahead, we’ll build on our momentum and expand our product offerings to help candidates deliver on their promises and serve their constituents effectively. This will allow us to move the needle on transforming civic leadership. 

GoodParty.org is founded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.  

What you’ll do: 

• Drive solutions to scaling challenges in support of our mission. You’ll work across all functions and tackle a diverse range of initiatives – from high-level strategy to executing critical details – while making a lasting impact as we grow.

• Drive organization and team OKRs. Collaborate with colleagues to set ambitious targets, iterate based on learnings and insights, and proactively address areas for improvement.

• Oversee financial operations by managing end-of-month reconciliation, ensuring budget vs. actuals alignment, and managing accountants to maintain accurate reporting.

• Conduct analysis and provide insights on labor, financials, planning, and goal setting, preparing high quality reports and presentations. Collaborate with Data Analytics Lead where needed.

• Own and evaluate systems and processes to ensure results-driven, effective remote collaboration - including cross-functional project management, finance operations, vendor selection, communication platforms, and AI tools.

• Serve as project manager for special projects with the executive leadership team and cross-functional initiatives. 

• Drive critical meetings such as All Hands by identifying key content, collaborating with leaders on slides and communication, and evolving the format as the organization scales.

• Reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Who you are:

• You’re up for the audacious challenge of leveraging technology to transform our civic leadership in America  and you don’t think the two-party system is the answer.

• You have 5+ years of work experience in business operations or a related role in a startup or high-growth environment. Scaling challenges aren’t new for you.

• You are numbers and metrics driven and use data to inform decisions.

• You have a strong financial acumen with experience in financial operations. You’ve created financial models from a business point of view (you don’t need to be an accountant).

• You have exceptional project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage stakeholders, and deliver results on time.

• You’re a generalist who finds it fun (not intimidating) to work across every function. You can dive into any problem and get to the bottom of what’s most essential. 

• You love no day being the same. You have a track record of high capacity and high performance, with responsibility for a vast portfolio of initiatives and projects. 

• You have experience with effectively using the OKR framework to drive team and organizational alignment. You’ve played a role in making goal setting successful.

• You can confidently put together a polished, persuasive presentation and help others improve theirs. 

• You’re highly organized and detail-oriented. You catch the details that others miss and notice issues as they’re emerging. 

• You love systems but also strive to keep them lean and nimble. You have an eye for automating and simplifying workflows. 

Bonus if: 

• You have an MBA

• You have experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, political activism, or democracy reform

The salary range is $110,000 to $150,000 for this remote, full-time position with excellent benefits. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs. We reserve the right to modify this pay range at any time. Title will also be commensurate with experience.
