Housing Use the Birmingham Land Bank to convert vacant, abandoned, and taxdelinquent properties into quality affordable housing, green spaces, and community assets. Education Support adult diploma and GED completion, career certifications, and reentry programs to ensure everyone—especially returning citizens—has a pathway to dignity and employment. Education Create clear, safe, and supported pipelines for Birmingham’s youth to access college, trades, military careers, or direct employment opportunities. Economy Expand access to capital for local entrepreneurs, especially minority- and women-owned businesses, through city-backed microloan funds and technical assistance. Economy Reignite economic activity in North Birmingham, Parkway East, Five Points West, and Downtown Ensley through targeted investment and infrastructure improvements. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Support and strengthen the office of the police chief while ensuring oversight, transparency, and adherence to constitutional policing practices. Education Partner with Alabama’s community college system and employers to create Opportunity Centers in each district, offering career coaching, job placement, and CTE training. Social Services Restore funding for community-based youth programs, athletics, arts, and enrichment in every neighbourhood—especially in underserved communities. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Expand investments in violence interruption, mental health response teams,and community-led public safety initiatives—particularly those focused on youth and trauma recovery. Housing Launch a 10,000 Homes Initiative to create new and renovated homeownership opportunities for working families, seniors, young professionals, and veterans. Social Services Establish a New Office of Youth Enrichment to unify citywide youth efforts,including mentorship, school partnerships, workforce internships, and mental health supports. Social Services Combat food insecurity by incentivizing and supporting fresh food markets, mobile food hubs, and neighborhood grocers in every food desert. Education Launch Birmingham Works—a citywide workforce initiative focused on preparing residents for careers in trades, technology, healthcare, logistics, and advanced manufacturing. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Re-establish community policing so that every neighborhood knows their local officers and can build mutual trust and accountability. Economy Leverage underutilized and city-owned properties for catalytic developments that generate jobs, housing, and retail opportunities ensuring Birmingham residents benefit first from these assets. Social Services Declare war on homelessness—not on the homeless—by expanding shelter capacity, permanent supportive housing, and wraparound services. Social Services Build a citywide continuum of care that connects seniors, veterans, young families, and citizens on fixed incomes to essential services, housing support, and wellness resources. Housing Require that city-funded rehabilitation and construction projects prioritize local contractors, laborers, and minority-owned firms to keep wealth in our neighborhoods.
