My name is Karen Jackson and I am running for Mayor of Waterbury as an unaffliated candidate. I am currently a student and in my free time, I enjoy sleeping, reading, fishing, bowling, hiking, and gazing at the water. I also like to waste time playing Uno and taking photographs of waterfalls in the winter and fall to capture the beauty of the seasons. I am a fan of Democracy Now with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzales and I listen to 99.5 WBAI, 89.5 WPKN, and 94.3 FM when I can. I love watching CSPAN and find it entertaining to observe the people behind the politicians. My past experience in politics includes serving as a City Council member for district 138th in Bridgeport, working in various parent groups within Bridgeport Public Schools, and working in the field of child protection in New York City for nearly 10 years. I also have experience coordinating departments for Tiffany and Company White Plains NY branch . I am passionate about serving the unknown individuals in our community and making a positive impact as Mayor.
I am running for the office of Mayor Waterbury as an unaffiliated candidate because I believe it is time for new leadership and fresh perspectives in our city. As a happily divorced parent of 3 sons, student, formerly houseless, woman of color I bring a unique perspective to the table. I am passionate about making positive changes in our community. In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities such as sleeping, reading, fishing, bowling, hiking, and capturing the beauty of nature through photography. I am an avid listener of Democracy Now and 99.5 WBAI, as well as a viewer of Link TV and Free Speech TV, which have helped me develop a deeper understanding of global issues. With my prior experience as a City of Bridgeport City Council member representing 138th district; involvement in parent groups within Bridgeport Public Schools, and work in education and child protection, I have a strong background in serving the needs of the community. I believe in the importance of transparency and accountability, and I am dedicated to representing the voices and concerns of the unknown. Together, we can work towards a brighter future for our city.
