My Top Issues

Wages / Job Benefits

Pursue legislation to require that large employers subsidize transit for their workers.

Education

Collaborate with our public school system to better support arts and culture programming, student mental health, violence prevention and student safety.

Wages / Job Benefits

Explore ways to encourage small businesses to provide health insurance and other benefits by tying tax breaks or other incentives to high-road employment practices.

Economy

The City must do more to revitalize and activate downtown, as well as support small businesses and neighborhood business districts across Seattle.

Housing

Deploy a range of strategies including Tiny House Villages, partnerships with faith communities, municipal rent vouchers, and rapid acquisition of buildings that will provide deep behavioral health support for people who are currently cycling through the criminal justice system.

Infrastructure / Transportation

I will cut red tape to expedite building out light rail to West Seattle and Ballard, and expand and improve bus service.

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

Expand alternative crisis response and other civilian roles, so police can focus on policing.

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

Work with SPD to improve transparency and responsiveness by publicly reporting the response time metrics that matter most for the safety of Seattle residents.

Housing

Make sure that all our strategies to make housing abundant and affordable include a focus on family-sized housing, to rent or buy, to accommodate the parents with young children who are currently leaving the city due to the housing crisis.

Abortion / Contraception

Work to defend access to reproductive healthcare and gender-affirming care for Seattle residents, and to ensure the safety and protection of those who travel here to access care.

Immigration

Support legal services for immigrants and work with immigrant community organizations to build a rapid response network that can support detained individuals with in-language and culturally competent assistance.

Housing

I’ll also work to build inclusive neighborhoods and incentivize housing types that support aging in place, people with disabilities, and young families — especially near public transit.

Infrastructure / Transportation

As your mayor, I will build new sidewalks, improve pedestrian safety, fix our streets and bridges, improve transit infrastructure, and connect our bike network.

Social Services

Deepen investments in opioid treatment programs, innovations in methamphetamine treatment, mobile treatment services, substance use disorder counseling, recovery housing, and evidence-based low-barrier shelter with intensive case management.

Taxes / Budget

Seattle should pass a local capital gains tax that supplements our state capital gains tax, raising funds from the wealthiest households.

Environment / Energy

As mayor, I will collaborate with and support community groups throughout the City, and especially in neighborhoods heavily impacted by pollution and climate change, as they work toward better health outcomes, environmental justice, climate resilience, and ecological balance.

Taxes / Budget

I would work with state legislators to make our property tax more progressive, adding deductions and exemptions for lower and middle income homeowners.

Guns

Work with legislators and advocates to advance statewide legislation that reduces the availability of lethal weapons, including limiting bulk purchases of firearms and ammunition and requiring gun owners to lock up their weapons in their cars and homes.

Immigration

I vow to protect our neighbors and defend Seattle’s status as a sanctuary city.
