Occupation

Fun Fact
I love competing. I was voted the best girl athlete in high school for the class of 1972. I enjoyed surfing and scuba diving and competed in sailing, swimming, springboard diving, surfing, skiing, tennis, fox hunting on horseback, and crew (rowing) to name a few.
I have visited 53 countries and really enjoy talking with people from other countries. (Dad was an airline pilot and mom was a stewardess). I studied in Switzerland for 3 years of my college because I love foreign cultures and languages so much. For four generations now (including my 5 children) we have studied abroad. Three of my children are married to spouses from foreign countries: Austria, Japan and Scotland.
Mastering foreign languages, tackling differences in university operating systems, traveling and living abroad has taught me to not be afraid to research and seek help when you really want to achieve something.
I am a credentialed parliamentarian with the National Association of Parliamentarians which sounds so nerdy. Because of a board with a bully chair I sought help in how to stop his behavior and that led to 15 years of getting my credentials and helping others learn how to fairly and correctly direct others in their meetings and how diffuse the toxic environments in boards.
Past Experience
Achievements: NA
Responsibilities: The only past responsibilities related to Northshore District 417 school have been tutoring students in math and French. I have attending school board meetings as well.
Skills: I have a very sharp eye to what good curriculum is and what is a waste. Our major challenges are in the math and literacy programs. Having been brought up in school decades ago, i KNOW memorizes pictures and guessing which is part of the whole language curriculum being taught today is not the way to get kids reading proficiently. I know and have taught phonics for years and would fight hard to get the best phonics programs for all elementary grades.
My Top Issues
Invest in local public education
At $20,00 dollars per student a year and projected to go up to $25,000 as school cry for more money - I would seek to dive into audit the contracts and expenditures of the schools. There are areas of the heavy administration and social engineering issues that are taking away from the true mission of academics in the schools.
Providing LGBTQ+ sensitivity training for city employees
Just as I do not push my Christian beliefs on everyone, nor do I demand posters in every subject room in the high school, I do not support the gay indoctrination materials plastered around the school nor the expense for all the counseling these kids need
Multicultural community events and activities
These include concerns about potentially lower hiring standards of the teaching staff.
