Top Issues

Housing As seen in Austin TX and other cities, an increase in housing supply stabilizes and lowers rent costs. Criminal Justice / Public Safety If your car gets broken into and you file a police report, we'll pay for the repair! Housing Parking requirements can add upwards of 80K per unit and reduce how many homes can be built on a lot. Removing them - especially near transit - lets us build more units at lower cost. Housing Allow 4–8 story multifamily housing on arterials and small apartments (duplexes, fourplexes, bungalow courts) in formerly single-family zones. 13-30 story towers on large commercial lots near transit. This spreads growth across the city instead of concentrating it in a few neighborhoods, increasing supply where people actually want to live. Arts / Culture Our artists and creatives that were left behind by the industry deserve better. Advocating for state and federal dollars to boost our creative and artistic economy will help revive our city as the ingenious hub it's known for! Infrastructure / Transportation We have to reinvest in our infrastructure immediately. From the street lights to the sidewalks, potholes and storm drains, we must prioritize the basics so we can continue to build an incredible Los Angeles. Housing Make it easy to convert underused office, retail, and commercial buildings into housing by relaxing zoning, parking, and certain building code requirements. Adaptive reuse is often faster and cheaper than ground-up construction and can quickly add units in high-demand areas. Housing Projects that meet zoning, affordability, and objective design standards should be approved ministerially without discretionary review or CEQA delays. This removes years of uncertainty and litigation risk, unlocking faster production and lower financing costs. Education With the City acting as conduit, we can work with property owners and their empty spaces as well as city-owned spaces to program them with commpunity partners to provide childcare. Infrastructure / Transportation We are investing billions in a new public transit network. The only way to get future Angelenos out of their cars is to get them into public transit early. We can start with DASH and push towards METRO and make sure the future is more transit reliant. Housing Allowing single-stair apartment buildings (common in Europe) makes smaller infill projects feasible on tight lots, especially in neighborhoods dominated by R1/R2 parcels. This dramatically increases unit yield and design flexibility while lowering per-unit construction costs. (For up to 6- 8 story buildings). Housing Publish a library of pre-approved multifamily and ADU plans that comply with zoning, fire, and building codes. Developers using these templates could skip plan check, reducing soft costs and accelerating construction timelines. Taxes / Budget I hate taxes and fee increases so I will make sure we do all we can to spend the City's and grant money before we spend any more of yours! Environment / Energy Getting future generations of Angelenos out of their cars, moving to renewable energy sources, and building denser to ensure we build a future for Los Angeles that helps battle climate change. I'll plant a thousand trees in the first year. We'll also add more art, more trash cans, as well as get our streets and sidewalks cleaner and safer! Economy I will hire brilliant minds and have a strategy forged to capitalize on all we take for granted and use it to create new streams of revenue for our City. From tourism to turning our vacant ground floor retail, we'll be open for business!s.
