Fun Fact
Outside the realm of politics and advocating for equity & justice, I very much enjoy spending time with friends and family.
I also enjoy getting out in nature whether hiking, kayaking, or bike riding.
Art is also a huge part of my life- from painting to photography. I often base my paintings off experiences and photos I get from my adventures.
I also hold a great appreciation of music and other mediums. I have found art to not only be a way to express emotions & culture, but also as a healing journey and way to connect with others.
Past Experience
I am running for this position because I care about the community and I am a strong advocate for patients & workers.
I know the complexities and challenges that come with the hospital district from my career experience in social work and community health. I left this work to be a caregiver for my mom, who just recently died from terminal cancer. From this I have been a witness to the courage, strength, and hope of the human spirit. I am passionate about supporting people through their health & wellness journeys, as well as the workers & organizations providing this vital care.
I also understand the great need for having people in leadership roles that will advocate for what’s right, especially at a time when the federal administration is taking away peoples’ rights and cutting jobs & funding that people depend on in the community.
My Top Issues
Worker’s Rights
Ensuring safety, access to the right tools/resources, adequate staffing, fair wages/benefits, etc. This means listening to workers, and supporting & advocating for them (in all roles: clinical, billing, food services, custodial, customer services...)
Equitable Patient Care for All
Ensuring everyone in the community has access to what they need to be healthy & improved well-being, whether it’s MH/BH services, preventative care, cultural connections, specialty care, emergency services. All while making sure that no matter what the federal administration is cutting or demanding that we are pushing back and providing care to anyone who needs it- increasing access and resources, increasing triage capacity and bed availability, etc.
Collaborative Community Support for Continuity of Care
Cultivating relationships between the hospital district and other community organizations, emergency services, facilities for transitional care, cultural connections, and natural supports (through ongoing communication, shared feedback, coordinated care, etc.); creating a more cohesive community care approach ensures continuity of care and reduces barriers, leading to a healthier and more positively connected community overall.
