Fun Fact

A career politician and second-generation public official whose base is rooted in name recognition and establishment ties. While she’s held office for over a decade, many Detroiters feel progress has been slow and uneven—especially in neighborhoods most in need. Her campaign is backed by deep-pocket donors and political insiders, but it’s missing the grassroots energy and people-first agenda that this moment demands.

Past Experience

{"skills":"Executive leadership of a multi-campus, regional organization Oversight of 100+ ministers, deacons, department heads, and executive staff Multi-million dollar fundraising, budgeting, and financial stewardship Strategic planning and organizational development Visionary leadership with a focus on outcomes and community impact Public speaking—experienced communicator on local, national, and international stages Policy advocacy and civic engagement Crisis management and emergency response coordination Leadership development and succession planning Coalition-building across faith, nonprofit, business, and government sectors Grassroots mobilization and community organizing Pastoral care and advisement to current and past elected officials and public servants Navigating complex political, cultural, and spiritual dynamics Launching and scaling initiatives in housing, education, workforce development, and social services Media relations and values-based messaging","achievements":"With the help of a leadership team over 100 strong—including ministers, deacons, department heads, and executive staff—I’ve built a community institution that serves more than 40,000 families each year across six cities. We've launched housing assistance efforts, food distributions, youth mentorship programs, and emergency services—all without a dime of public money. I’ve led this work with conviction and results, including being one of the first to speak out against Detroit’s over-taxation crisis and the urgent need for housing and economic justice.","responsibility":"As Senior Pastor of Triumph Church—headquartered in Detroit and serving families across six cities in Southeast Michigan—I’ve led a complex, mission-driven organization with a regional footprint. I’ve raised and managed multi-million dollar budgets without taxpayer funding and overseen a team of over 100 ministers, deacons, department heads, leaders, and executive staff to help carry out the work of ministry and service. My responsibilities have included strategic planning, program development, crisis response, and direct engagement with the community—work that mirrors the scale and complexity of city governance."}

My Top Issues

Increasing affordable housing options

Detroiters have been overtaxed, overlooked, and pushed out of their own neighborhoods. I’ve been one of the first to speak out on the housing crisis—from over-assessments to affordability and displacement. My campaign is focused on making housing fair, affordable, and attainable—for seniors, working families, and the next generation.

Enhancing transparency and accountability

I’m not a career politician—I’m a pastor, a community builder, and a public servant. I’ve never taken a dime of taxpayer money to do the work. As mayor, I’ll ensure that city government is honest, accountable, and works for the people—not just for insiders or donors. It’s time Detroit had leadership with nothing to hide and everything to prove.

Promoting workforce development programs

Too many Detroiters have been left behind in the so-called “comeback.” I believe every block deserves investment—not just downtown. I’m focused on growing small businesses, creating job pipelines that pay $35/hour, and revitalizing our neighborhoods so opportunity isn’t reserved for the few, but spread across the many.
