Fun Fact

In my free time, I love watching C-dramas and anime and reading romance novels. I also like to look up recipes for foods from my childhood that I can share with my own kids. These activities fuels my imagination and creativity, allowing me to think flexibly and problem solve more effectively.

Past Experience

I have over 15 years of experience in the Education field. I started as a middle school teacher in 2005 and went on to teach high school and opportunity youth. I am passionate about project-based learning in STEAM education; providing guidance to students while maintaining high expectations, while believing that standardized testing has a place in education, also believing that students are more than a test and should be able to showcase their learning in a holistic way. I also worked for a semester as an adjunct professor. In 2016, I became an education consultant for a nationwide nonprofit. There, I created curriculum for Career Exploration and Career Planning and trainings for Job Corps Staff. I also participated in engagement and awareness meetings where I advocated for students and instructors alike. During COVID, I researched and authored a Best Practices for Remote Learning and a Remote Learning Guide for the program, and I assisted in transforming the in-person lesson plans to asynchronous training modules.

My Top Issues

Early childhood education

We should use our resources to provide universal pre-K to all Waltham children ages 3 - kindergarten.

Invest in local public education

We need to invest in our schools and our teachers so that we retain the outstanding teachers we already have and attract new ones.

Career development training

We have a new high school with CTE built in, but we need to train our students in more than just the job, they need financial education to help them understand if the job they are training for will help them make a livable wage.
