Fun Fact
I am a mother of two kids show attend KSD schools. I am proud Girl Scout troop leader and love all things outdoors. I love to go exploring in all seasons.
Past Experience
I'm running to retain my seat on the KSD school board as a parent and community member who believes in the transformative power of education. Our schools are more than buildings—they shape futures. I will prioritize three key areas: 1. Academic Excellence – I’ll advocate for resources that empower teachers and ensure all students, from kindergarten to high school, have access to modern tools and support to succeed. 2. Financial Transparency – I’ll work to ensure every dollar is spent wisely and transparently, always prioritizing student needs. 3. Strong Community Connections – I’ll foster open communication among families, educators, and the board, encouraging collaborative decision-making.
Together, we can create an inclusive, high-quality educational environment where every child thrives. I’m asking for your vote to serve not only on the board but to serve you and your children. Together, we can make a difference.
My Top Issues
Invest in local public education
Investing in public education strengthens the economy by developing a skilled, productive workforce and fostering innovation. It promotes equity by providing all children, regardless of background, with equal opportunities to succeed. Additionally, it supports strong communities and democracy by reducing crime, encouraging civic engagement, and empowering future generations.
Apprenticeships
valued while learning, they're more engaged, motivated, and open to growth. Appreciatiships also create meaningful intergenerational relationships that foster character development, career readiness, and community connection.
Digital literacy and access to technology
Digital literacy is essential for kids because it prepares them to safely and effectively navigate the digital world. It helps them develop critical thinking, evaluate information, and use technology responsibly for learning, communication, and creativity. In a tech-driven society, digital literacy is not just a skill—it's a foundation for academic success, future careers, and informed citizenship.
Who I'm Running Against
Carolyn Wilsie-Kendall (Other)
I am running for the Kent School District school Board to contribute to district decisions prioritizing academic excellence, clear communications & true community representation. As a lifelong child advocate with decades of hands on experience in education, serving the Franklin Pierce School District in Tacoma, Washington public schools as; Secretary, PTA Council & PTA President at various schools; Secretary Union President and promoting school district levy's. Also serving Pierce County Junvenile Courts; Guardian ad Litem/CASA gal and Diversion Counselor. Before my involvement with the school district I owned and operated a licensed day care for 8 years. I understand the value of strong respectful collaboration between schools and families.
I am especially concerned about failing test scores nation wide. Our focus must return to core learning; Reading, Writing & Math. Schools must prepare students for life, not replace parents in personal matters. It would be my honor to listen to and represent the Kent School District and Community to protect the integrity of education and work towards decisions made for children to receive the foundational skills they need to succeed.

Our children deserve a quality education, regardless of circumstance or status. Our Diversity should be our strength and not a boundary to our collective growth. I am running to disrupt the status quo, to enrich academics, support and raise the quality of our schools. To be fiscally responsible to our students and therefore our community. Let's make Kent Schools a place where parents want their children, and teachers fight to come to, but don't have to fight for what they need. As a proud parent of two elementary students, my parent journey within the district is just beginning. I want to ensure they, along with every other student, don't have to struggle for what should be a fundemental right. A quality education free of undue stress.
I want funding that is clear and concise, funding that rockets past the finish line without obstacle. Not just one Big, Beautiful Bond Measure promising everything under the sun, but with no clear path to success. As a Marine Corps Veteran, and proud civil servant, I have spent my entire career in public service, and now, more than ever, is the time to fight for what is right.
Make PTA Dads great again!
