To use GoodParty.org, candidates commit to a simple but powerful pledge rooted in four values: Independence, People Power, Anti-Corruption, and Civility.
When you take the pledge, you agree to:
Run as an Independent or nonpartisan candidate
Rely on people-powered support, not big-money interests
Be transparent, honest, and accountable
Lead with civility and respect, even in disagreement
This pledge helps us ensure every candidate on the platform shares the mission of putting people before parties and real democracy before power games.
Being Independent means you're not running as a Democrat or Republican in a partisan race and you're not relying on party infrastructure to win. Your campaign is about serving your community, not advancing a party agenda.
Important note: You can still be personally registered with a political party (like Democrat or Republican) if required by your state’s laws. What matters is that you are:
Running as an Independent or in a nonpartisan race
Not accepting support (endorsements, funding, resources) from a major party or its affiliated committees
Highlights:
You won’t fundraise for or align with either major political party during your campaign or while in office
You commit to working across political divides to represent your constituents
You’re part of a movement that puts people over party
People-powered candidates reject big-money politics and center their campaigns on community support, small donors, and grassroots organizing.
Highlights:
Your financial support comes from living people, not corporations, unions, or PACs
You run a campaign by and for the people you serve
You’re committed to transparency around fundraising
Anti-corruption means operating with honesty, transparency, and integrity in both policy and practice.
Highlights:
You’ll disclose attempts to influence you within 48 hours
You’ll fight for reforms like Ranked Choice Voting, Final Five Voting, open primaries, and dark money bans
You’ll champion true accountability and transparency in government
Civility means engaging in constructive, respectful discourse — even when it’s hard.
Highlights:
You’ll listen to citizens, not just speak at them
You’ll avoid mudslinging and personal attacks
You’ll create a campaign that builds trust — not just wins arguments
Candidates are also required to agree to GoodParty.org’s full Terms of Service and Minimum Standard of Civility, and may be removed from the platform if those standards are violated.
