About Chenango County Treasurer

County Treasurer is the Chief Fiscal Officer of the County. Under the direction of the Treasurer, the office acts as custodian of all funds belonging to the County or in which the County has an interest, has the primary responsibility for the issuance of all County debt, and invests excess funds as available. The Office of the County Treasurer processes and distributes payroll, vendor and other checks and payments, collects delinquent taxes, and refunds tax certiorari awards and settlements. The office conducts an annual tax lien sale to recoup unpaid taxes owed to the County. The office is responsible for relationships the County maintains with banks, securities firms, and bond rating agencies. Additionally, the office issues Certificates of Residence.
