Why I’m Running for Office

I am running because I have found that the school board hasn't held the district accountable enough. In the past few years, there have been decisions taken by the district that were unpopular, or had inadequate community transparency, and in some cases even disrespectful. The school board failed to be a voice for the community and has failed to make the community feel heard. They have not played their part in being the system of checks and balances. My 3 priorities are: 1. Listen to the community, make people feel heard Parents and teachers alike told me about raising concerns that went nowhere. That’s a basic organizational health problem. We need to create enough avenues for community involvement. There's no one-size-fits-all. 2. Make our public schools serve the needs of our entire community Many in our neighborhood choose private schools because our public schools aren’t meeting their expectations. Mine was one of them. It’s important that our schools meet the expectations of our entire community. More families opting for our schools resolves our declining enrollment problem. This also helps reduce the privilege gap (privileged kids going to private school, increases the gap). 3. Improve academic rigor From new parents to longtime residents, I’ve heard this: our academic rigor has eroded. Several of our schools don't even offer art and music enrichment. We need a balanced education that builds grit in a nurturing environment and prepares our children well for high school and beyond.

About Me

I am a parent, technology leader, and former PTA president. I led large, values-driven teams at Netflix. My leadership approach is simple: listen, ask tough questions, and hold people accountable. That’s what our board is missing. Over the past few weeks, I’ve knocked on hundreds of doors across our community. Three themes came up repeatedly.
