Why I’m Running for Office

I am running for Keizer City Council, Position 4, to bring my grassroots experience, neighborhood-level advocacy, and practical problem-solving directly to City Hall. Her I am driven by a deep commitment to ensuring that everyday residents have a strong, consistent voice in local government. Key motivations behind her campaign include: Empowering Neighborhoods: As a long-time neighborhood association leader, I have actively fought to protect and strengthen neighborhood associations—pushing back against budget reductions and advocating for policies that keep residents informed and directly involved in municipal decisions. Championing Community Safety: I have been dedicated to addressing critical infrastructure needs along high-traffic corridors in Keizer, such as Verda Lane, Chemawa Road, and Lockhaven Drive. Her focus is on implementing effective traffic-calming measures, enhancing pedestrian safety, and expanding neighborhood watch networks. Expanding Inclusive Governance: I am committed to modernizing how local government reaches the public. As I advocate for accessible civic participation through hybrid meeting infrastructure and multilingual outreach materials to ensure every diverse voice in Keizer is welcomed and heard. Bringing Professional Accountability: Backed by my education in business administration and project management, alongside my experience as a peer wellness support specialist, Tammy aims to bring fiscal responsibility, organizational efficiency, and compassionate leadership to city governance. Ultimately, I (Tammy Kunz) am running because I believe Keizer's future is brightest when local government actively listens, collaborates transparently, and shows up for every neighborhood.
