People Operations Manager
GoodParty.org is looking for a People Operations Manager or HR Manager to join our mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy. You’ll lead our HR processes, shape our culture, and create an exceptional team member experience in a fully remote, fast-growing startup. If you’re a systems builder with a great track record of building strong relationships and fostering an effective remote culture, we’d love to hear from you.
About GoodParty.org:
GoodParty.org is on a mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy by empowering independent candidates to run, win, and serve. Our AI-powered platform provides free tools to independent candidates to run their campaigns, connect with voters, and serve their communities effectively.
A majority of eligible voters, including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither Republicans nor Democrats represent them. GoodParty.org is the solution. With 3,444 independent candidate wins across 48 states last year, these elected officials come from across the ideological spectrum. They prioritize people over parties and community over corporate interests. In 2024, 40.3 million voters (26% of all voters) cast a ballot for our candidates. We’re not a political party, we’re a platform and a movement.
Founded by serial entrepreneur Farhad Mohit ($1B+ in exits, including Flipagram/TikTok and Shopzilla), GoodParty.org is building solutions so we can have a truly representative democracy where society’s biggest problems are solved.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement AI-driven strategies to streamline HR processes, analyze HR data using AI tools to identify trends and inform planning and work cross-functionally to integrate AI solutions into the HR technology stack.
Scale up and improve existing systems and processes for onboarding, payroll & benefits administration (via Rippling PEO), performance management, learning and development, and HR compliance to support a fast-growing, remote organization.
Directly support the full-time, hourly, and intern teams. Also ensure contractor agreements align with organizational needs, troubleshoot contractor issues, and ensure expectations are met.
Keep a strong connection with every team member by leading check-ins to listen, surface issues, reinforce satisfaction, and build trust across the organization. Provide coaching to team members and managers, helping them grow in their roles and resolve challenges effectively.
Handle complex HR issues such as conflict resolution, performance management, and offboarding with good judgment and thoughtful planning.
Utilize expertise in remote culture-building to organize touch-points and events that align with team needs and organizational goals, including playing a key role in planning and executing Team Onsite in-person gatherings.
In collaboration with the Head of Talent, conduct compensation analysis for new hires and existing team members.
Ensure strong learning and development support for team members, creating clear development plans tied to performance goals and organizational priorities.
Partner with the talent team and operations team on talent planning to ensure staffing aligns with organizational priorities and growth goals.
Build a small People Operations team over time to support our growing startup.
Reports to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Who we’re looking for:
You’re up for the audacious challenge of leveraging technology to transform our civic leadership in America and you don’t think the two-party system is the answer.
You’re a proven A-player with a 5+ year track record of building People Operations teams at startups. You have proven experience with teams of 50 to 150 people. Title will be commensurate with experience.
You have a deep understanding of startup HR, including the challenges of building and supporting a remote team and scaling quickly. You love systems but also strive to keep them lean and nimble.
You’re an exceptional relationship builder, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with team members across all levels.
HR conversations here sometimes involve politics. You’re excited to lead People Operations for a politically diverse team who are all committed to the same mission. You have a baseline understanding of how the American political system works. You’re a natural bridge builder who can see many different sides of an issue.
You have strong experience leading culture for remote organizations and know how to foster connection, collaboration, alignment, and fun.
You have an analytical mindset, using data to make informed decisions about engagement, performance, and organizational health. You’ve got the problem solving skills to ensure our team meets their potential.
You’re integrating and leading with Generative-AI tools
You’re able to work independently and also enjoy collaborating with others to iteratively solve problems in real-time. You thrive working at the startup speed that our mission demands.
You communicate directly, honestly, and are open to candid feedback.
Bonus if:
You have experience working in small, tight-knit, fast-paced remote teams.
You’ve got experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, civics, or democracy reform.
You are anti-establishment and are sick of sitting on the sidelines watching our democracy fail to meet its potential.
Why you should work at Good Party:

We’re a Public Benefit Corporation that prioritizes social impact over making money

Individual learning & development budget to fund your growth
We’ll make sure you’ve got what you need to work remotely through our workspace setup stipend
If you work from home, we give $50/month to help with your internet and other expenses. If you prefer co-working, that’s an option we can discuss too.
