On June 11, 2024, voters across the state of Nevada cast their ballots in a primary election. In Humboldt County, non-partisan and GoodParty.org Certified candidate Alicia Cramer won her election for a seat on the Hospital District Board of Trustees.

Serving Humboldt County, Nevada on the Hospital Board

Cramer has served on the Humboldt County Hospital District Board of Trustees since 2019. In this week’s primary election, she won 100% of the vote in an uncontested race. In total, Cramer received 2,062 votes.

Cramer told GoodParty.org that her experience in the hospital and insurance industries has prepared her well to serve Humboldt County in this role.

“I worked in the medical/hospital industry for around 15 years and in the insurance industry for over 20 years,” Cramer said. “I understand the complexity of medical billing and have learned some of the intricacies of our critical access hospital. Our hospital is critical to our rural community.”

Humboldt County is located in northwest Nevada, with a population of over 17,000 people. It includes the county seat of Winnemucca and parts of the Sheldon National Antelope Refuge and the Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. The county also includes the Summit Lake Reservation and part of the Fort McDermitt Indian Reservation.

The hospital board includes five elected members and one appointed member. Together, these six board members make policy decisions and work with the hospital’s CEO to ensure those decisions align with the hospital’s values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. The board also maintains the hospital’s financial health and high standard of accountability.

Cramer said the goal of the hospital board is to serve the community in Humboldt County, not to align itself with the ideals of any one political party. She also shared that she initially decided to run for office to improve the community’s perception of the hospital and share its value with residents.

“I am always available to listen and will work to improve the healthcare within our community. I am an advocate for the people,” Cramer said.

The Movement for Non-Partisan Representation

As a GoodParty.org Certified candidate, Cramer is one of dozens of independent and non-partisan elected officials who have won their local elections in 2024. In fact, Cramer is one of 17 GoodParty.org Certified candidates who won local elections in Nevada and North Dakota on June 11, 2024.

All of these local leaders have pledged to run independent, people-powered, and anti-corruption campaigns — and to serve their communities with integrity, honesty, and transparency once elected to office.
