Environment / Energy Clean water is essential for the health of our families, farms, and economy, and we cannot afford to wait to take action. Farm-based nutrient runoff doesn’t just harm drinking water; it also raises treatment costs, harms aquatic life, and adds to broader environmental challenges downstream. However, solutions are available. Conservation practices like prairie strips, vegetative buffers, and a stronger, better-funded Nutrient Reduction Strategy can help keep pollutants out of our waterways. By investing in these effective tools now, we can create healthier communities, stronger farms, and safe environments for families to thrive, both today and for generations to come. Wages / Job Benefits By raising the minimum wage, we can help families build stability, keep young people in Iowa, and create an economy that works for everyone—not just the wealthy few. A higher wage will reduce reliance on taxpayer-funded safety nets, strengthen local businesses by putting more money into people’s pockets, and give Iowans the dignity of making a living from their hard work. Healthcare By expanding access to affordable, comprehensive care, we can build a healthier, stronger Iowa—where no one has to choose between their health and their paycheck. Low-income children and families already rely on Medicaid and HAWK-i for essential care, mental health services, and preventive treatments; making coverage more accessible keeps families out of emergency rooms and reduces long-term costs. Education Our schools and educators deserve better. That’s why I’m committed to reinvesting in public education: ensuring schools are fully funded, teachers are paid competitively, and every dollar strengthens our public classrooms—not private alternatives. We must stop diverting public money into vouchers and education savings accounts that drain our resources and our students—without evidence of improved outcomes. When we invest in strong, inclusive public schools, we give every child a fair shot, keep communities whole, and safeguard the future of Iowa for all families. Civil Rights Every Iowan deserves strong civil rights protections and the freedom to shape their own future. That means safeguarding marriage equality, protecting reproductive decisions, and ensuring that healthcare choices remain between patients and their doctors—not politicians.
