Ahmad will be a strong advocate for environmental justice, holding polluters accountable and working to ensure every Richmond neighborhood has clean air. Taxes / Budget Richmond cannot deliver on its promises without sound finances. Ahmad will restore fiscal responsibility to City Hall — protecting essential services, eliminating waste, and ensuring the city lives within its means while investing in the priorities that matter most to residents. Environment / Energy The Richmond waterfront is a treasure that belongs to all residents. Ahmad will fight to ensure public access, environmental protection, and thoughtful development that honors this resource rather than diminishes it. He will also protect and expand Richmond's parks and green spaces for current and future generations. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Richmond needs a well-staffed police department that operates with modern training and the highest ethical standards. Ahmad will work to ensure our officers have the tools, training, and support they need — and that the community has the accountability and transparency it deserves. Economy Small and mid-sized businesses are the engine of Richmond's economy. Ahmad will cut red tape, improve access to resources, and create a city government that is a genuine partner — not an obstacle — for local entrepreneurs and business owners. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Lasting safety requires investment upstream. Ahmad will lead efforts to expand mental health crisis response, fund evidence-based violence prevention programs, create pathways for youth opportunity, and address housing instability — because housing security is a public safety issue. Environment / Energy Richmond's location on the Bay gives it natural assets that are among the most remarkabe of any city in the Bay Area. Ahmad is committed to protecting Richmond's air quality, preserving its stunning waterfront, and maintaining the green spaces that give this community its character and its health. Economy Richmond's economy cannot depend on a single industry. Ahmad will lead efforts to attract diverse industries and 21st-century jobs — including clean energy, technology, and advanced manufacturing — that can provide good wages for Richmond residents for generations to come. Economy Economic strength is the foundation of community stability. As former Chair of the Richmond Economic Development Commission and the Richmond NAACP Economic Development Committee, Ahmad knows how to bring businesses and good jobs to Richmond — and he'll do it on Day One. Housing Working families need to be able to stay in Richmond. Ahmad will expand pathways to homeownership, strengthen protections for renters, and work to address the housing affordability crisis that threatens to displace the very people who built this community. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Public safety is not just about enforcement — it's about creating the conditions where crime is less likely to occur in the first place. Ahmad will pursue a comprehensive strategy that holds people accountable while investing in the prevention and support systems that make communities genuinely safer. Environment / Energy Ahmad will tackle Richmond's most visible quality-of-life issues head-on. That means fixing potholes, removing graffiti promptly, and cracking down on illegal dumping with both enforcement and the community engagement necessary for lasting change.
