Taxes / Budget I will support legislative efforts such as the Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act and the Social Security Expansion Act to relieve working families of financial burdens. Additionally, I will support the Public Banking Act to reinstate federal and state governments’ authority to provide fair banking opportunities to all by creating state-funded banks. Immigration I will vote to reinstate and expand, temporary protected status (TPS) for displayed peoples. Civil Rights I will work tirelessly to ensure that the government fails to muzzle us and strips us of our rights while keeping us safe I will codify access to reproductive care and gender-affirming care, standing with women, gender minorities, and trans San Diegans. Taxes / Budget I will additionally work to restore governmental stimulus grants and packages and push for a Universal Basic Income while keeping a balanced budget by bolstering progressive taxation. To economically stimulate rural communities, I will help pass the BOOST Act which will equip rural families with online connectivity to engage in other opportunities. Healthcare We must implement a universal, single-payer healthcare system that eliminates deductibles and includes eye care/dental care/hearing aid coverage/mental health care coverage. Environment / Energy It is time for the United States to return to leading-by-example by passing reforms such as the Green New Deal and invest further in our Climate Civilian Corps. Housing I will back transformative legislation such as the Community Housing Act, the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, and the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act to modernize and make our housing stock more sustainable while creating good-paying jobs. Housing Safe, stable, and affordable housing is a basic human right. I will champion policies that expand the supply of affordable homes, protect tenants, and support first-time homebuyers. This includes bolstering Section 8 housing vouchers, passing the Embrace Act to ensure immigrant families have equal access to housing, and enacting the Tenant Empowerment Act to give renters stronger protections and a voice in housing management. I also support community land trusts, rent stabilization, and investment in public housing to keep communities stable and affordable. Healthcare We must also increase government funding of medical research to subsidize drug pricing of new innovations once they are on the market. Now is the time to support government-funded bioscience and bioeconomy work in pursuit of benefiting people. Taxes / Budget If elected, I will support robust funding of SBIR grants, NSF and NIH grants, agency research efforts and community-centered science initiatives. Government Reform I will push to overturn Citizens United and ban insider trading. Additionally, public officials must be held to a certain moral standard that I will aim to enshrine in our legislation with, for example, enforceable consequences for SCOTUS accountability measure violations through passage of the Judiciary Act of 2021. Additionally, Congress must continue to pursue impeachment articles for unlawful conduct by the President. Foreign Policy I will push for a new approach to the plight of Palestinians, Sudanese that ensures longstanding peace and harmony restoration of the rights and human dignity of oppressed peoples. This reducing foreign military funding in favor of diplomatic efforts. Education Supporting borrowers is imperative and I commit to strengthening the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program while expanding Pell Grants, support for HBCUs, tribal colleges, and minority-serving institutions. Additionally, we must be willing to create more programs to relieve the financial burden on millions of borrowers by investing in a diverse range of student loan forgiveness programs. Environment / Energy It is time to focus on community-powered tech development while training our workforce to lead a green tech transition. To this end, we need leaders willing to challenge oligarchs who are currently invested in subsidizing oil over subsidizing community development towards a green transition. Taxes / Budget It is time that the top 1% paid their fair share to the workers that have ensured their success. Instead of using our taxes to pay for endless wars abroad, it is time that Congress worked for the people it is meant to represent. These funds can be used to fund the Social Security Expansion Act, federally-funded public transit, equity initiatives. These investments allow us to build a future where scientific progress, economic security, and opportunity are not privileges, but rights shared by all. Education While access to education has the power to lift communities as The Great Equalizer, meaningful training opportunities are becoming ever distant for many. Through supporting and creating legislation like the College for All Act and America's College Promise Act, I will advocate for equitable education access, creating tuition-free state colleges, community colleges and vocational training programs to prepare Americans with expanded career paths, apprenticeships and technical training. Abortion / Contraception Additionally any healthcare system implemented should afford abortion access to people nationwide and must cover gender-affirming care. Civil Rights I will also fight to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and affirm the Equal Right Amendment's ratification. Defense / Veterans Commit to voting against warmongering policies and legislation like the National Defense Authorization Act. Wages / Job Benefits Great schools demand great teachers. As such, I support measures like the RAISE Act to ensure that public education remains fully-funded and that fair pay is guaranteed for the nation's educators. Immigration Immigrants make San Diego and the U.S. Great. It is time that our legislators recognized that. I will vote to abolish ICE, strengthen DACA and focus on codifying paths to citizenship. I also support legislating protections for those with legal statuses that are currently dependent on the whims of the President.
