Education Basic needs are human rights. The human rights department will strive to guarantee all Kenoshans their basic needs: clean water, healthy food, housing, healthcare, and adequate and proper education. Environment / Energy We need to begin the transition from fossil fuels to a clean, renewable, public energy grid. This should consist of a combination of residential solar, solar farms, and off-shore wind turbines on Lake Michigan Healthcare We need greater and easier access to healthcare services. We need more safe emergency housing for victims of abuse. Healthcare We need to expand emergency services, mental healthcare, and addiction services. Housing I have a holistic understanding of local issues in Kenosha and have a solid plan to get us back on track. A major plan of mine will be to establish a local human rights department. The goal of this department would be to work to guarantee all Kenoshans affordable housing; clean water; healthy food; unionizing; jobs; and protections against discrimination and police misconduct. This department will work to guarantee basic needs, civil rights, and human right, to all Kenoshans. Housing We need to invest in public sector jobs and city housing development for those who are unfairly denied work or housing in the private sector. Infrastructure / Transportation I support increasing public transportation and redesigning bus routes for optimal and equitable service. Housing We can hire professionals that are trained in building tiny homes. By building these homes ourselves, we save on paying the profit margin that private housing development companies require. Criminal Justice / Public Safety For non-violent 911 calls, we should have alternatives to police: therapists trained in PTSD, de-escalation, special needs, and victim counseling. This would allow police to focus more on actual crime issues. Drug Policy We need alternatives to jail/prison time. When appropriate, we should seek other options such as community service or drug treatment programs instead of locking up members of our community. Housing First, we should establish a local housing development department for the City of Kenosha and invest in community-controlled, democratically-managed tiny home communities.
