Guns I’m a proud 2A supporter who believes in common-sense gun safety. Seat belt laws save lives – and so can keeping guns from dangerous hands with background checks, age limits (except for military and police), short waiting periods, and red flag laws. Protect rights. Protect families. Healthcare Expand Medicaid and collect $10 billion *per year* for healthcare. Only 10 states refused these dollars. That’s 1,400,000 Texans with no healthcare. If Greg doesn’t care about people, what about the money? I’m no genius, but refusing $10 billion greenbacks a year seems bad for business. Environment / Energy Drill today and invest in clean-tech for tomorrow. I want both energy independence and our grandkids to (be able to) live here. Infrastructure / Transportation Build the Ike Dike. Expand the Bayous, and invest in flood warning technology, not just talk about it. Abortion / Contraception We should work to reduce abortion without passing stringent laws that turn women and doctors into criminals. To me, women’s health also includes access to contraceptives and IVF, help for working moms raising kids, and investment in peri-menopause research. Because healthy women mean healthy communities. Immigration A sovereign country must control its own border. Period. We also need to make legal immigration available to both well-qualified candidates and to well-documented asylum seekers. As a Christian, I feel strongly we should never separate a child from their family and that DACA children should be protected. Government Reform Politicians can’t police themselves. We need independent redistricting, ranked choice voting, term limits — and yes, age limits too. And let’s make electoral votes pro rata instead of winner-take-all… but only if other states play by the same rules. Education Texas schools rank in the bottom half of the nation. I’ll ask someone like Admiral William McRaven to lead an independent commission to create a clear plan to make our schools the best — and force the Legislature to give it an up-or-down vote. No more excuses.
