Encourage new housing in previously developed urban areas instead of using government to pressure rural communities into razing farms and forests. I will work to reduce the regulatory burden because 94,000 of the cost of a new home is complying with government regulations. Education Fully inform parents about how their child and their school is performing. I will implement transparency measures like the A-F grading scale that help parents understand how their school stacks up. Taxes / Budget Eliminate the state income tax: Let families keep their hard-earned income so that they can focus on paying their bills - not bloated salaries for bureaucrats or wasteful corporate handouts to large, multinational corporations. Wages / Job Benefits Make Michigan a Right to Work state: Safeguard worker freedom and position Michigan as an economic leader. Education ‘DOGE’ Michigan’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at K-12 schools and community colleges to see what’s working - and what isn’t. Education Studies prove the phonics-based Science of Reading is the most effective approach to teaching kids how to read. We will ensure every Michigan elementary school has a literacy coach trained in the Science of Reading on site to assist teachers with this critical strategy, and that our universities incorporate it as part of their elementary education curriculum. Taxes / Budget Launch the Michigan Financial Oversight and Fiscal Accountability Office (MI-FAFO): Root out waste, fraud, and abuse across all government levels, returning savings directly to taxpayers. When governments takes less, Michigan families keep more. Infrastructure / Transportation Prioritize Michigan’s rural roads and bridges. For decades, Lansing has neglected the local roads we drive to work, school, and church. We must prioritize these roads so our farmers and rural businesses can thrive. I fought to use Michigan’s 9 billion surplus to rebuild our roads and bridges, but Democrats chose to waste the money on corporate welfare and pork projects instead. Immigration Launch “OPERATION TUEBOR”: Faithful to Michigan’s motto Tuebor, meaning “I will defend,” I will stand with President Trump and work with local law enforcement officials to launch the largest I.C.E. Deployment in Michigan history, and deport all criminal illegal aliens across Michigan. Healthcare Improve healthcare affordability: Require hospital price transparency, expand telehealth, and foster competition to lower costs. Economy With Michigan’s natural resources, crop diversity, and proximity to markets, I will work to ensure we are a destination for agricultural businesses by making sure our regulations support growth. Guns Protect our Second Amendment rights: repeal radical red-flag gun laws, and make Michigan a constitutional carry state. And veto any attempt to infringe on law-abiding citizens’ rights to self-defense. Immigration Ban sanctuary cities: Sign an executive order on day one to ban all sanctuary cities and other jurisdictions in Michigan, and remove state funding for local governments that refuse to comply. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Keep criminals in jail: Ban cashless bail for violent felons and give prosecutors the tools needed so victims get the justice they deserve. Education I will enact a Read by Third Grade law so every Michigan student is set up for success in school and beyond. Education Provide access for every student who wants to explore advanced courses or credentialed training. I’ll create scholarships to help parents defray the cost of dual enrollment, advanced courses, AP or SAT exams, workforce training, or industry-recognized credential attainment. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Give law enforcement the resources they need to secure our communities and crack down on fentanyl. Overdoses have soared by 250% over the last decade, tearing apart families. We need to get tough on anyone bringing these deadly drugs into our communities, ban sanctuary cities, and support law enforcement. Environment / Energy Repeal the “Green New Deal.” It’s already hard enough to pass the family farm on to the next generation. Now, radical environmentalists want to turn them into solar farms and raise everyone’s energy costs in the process. The Michigan Green New Deal is projected to increase utility bills by thousands per year, which is a raw deal for rural Michigan. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Protect officers on the ground: Fight to put in pace a mandatory 15-year sentence for anyone attempting to disarm a police officer and veto legislation that takes away qualified immunity from our officers.
