Infrastructure / Transportation We must take action to accelerate EV adoption to reduce emissions and increase transit ridership. Housing Housing first is an evidence based approach to ending homelessness that recognizes that people must have their basic needs (shelter, food etc) met before addressing other issues (employment, health care). These programs help to end the cycle of homelessness while improving the health and financial security of those involved. The county must use its resources to increase access to permanent supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Environment / Energy I will advocate to create additional incentives for community members to make transitions on things like electrification of buildings, adopting electric vehicles, and taking advantage of telework and reliable transit. Social Services We can do more outreach to families experiencing homelessness to connect them with health care (Medicaid or subsidized private insurance). The county should increase access to case workers and health care navigators in low income Boulder County communities and populations experiencing homelessness. Infrastructure / Transportation We must promote public transit, to ensure that all have mobility, regardless of age or ability. I will continue to advocate for fare-free transit as your commissioner. I will also continue to advocate for improved paratransit solutions. Infrastructure / Transportation As Commissioner, I will work to get critical routes restored (like the FF2, FF4, and LX1) as well as getting a rail plan on track to deliver rail to our region through the partnerships with Amtrak on Front Range Passenger Rail. Housing We also need to expand other programs to address other day-to-day issues such as day sheltering resources and other programming. Environment / Energy Nature is one of the things that makes Boulder County so special. We need to continue to be responsible stewards of our public lands and ensure that there are protected areas for habit and designated areas for recreation and enjoyment of the outdoors. Criminal Justice / Public Safety We need improvements to our plans and infrastructure so that people can evacuate quickly when needed. We also need to improve communication so that we can let people specifically know which routes to take when there is an evacuation. Criminal Justice / Public Safety We need to bolster our disaster recovery team resources in order to respond to emergencies right from the second they happen. Housing Boulder County must do better when it comes to housing more vulnerable members of our community. Our county has a goal of making 12% of housing affordable. The county must take the lead and work with municipalities to launch an actionable plan reach the county affordable housing goals. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I am committed to support the needed upgrades to modernize our county 911 system. Our current emergency notification system is not sufficient. We urgently need to invest in solutions that effectively notify people when danger is present. Environment / Energy As Commissioner I will advocate to set an aggressive countywide target for becoming carbon neutral. Healthcare County programs should provide mental health services where folks are, in the community or in supportive permanent housing. The County should use a dual responder model across the county so that those who are experiencing mental health crises get mental health care and do not end up in the criminal justice system. Infrastructure / Transportation We need to coordinate our transportation planning and systems with SVVSD, BVSD, and CU.
