Government Reform That is why I support the Bipartisan Ban on Congressional Stock Ownership Act introduced by Rep Jayapal (D) and Rosendale (R) that would ban members and their spouses from owning individual stocks while in office. Environment / Energy Rooftop Solar Power Mandate by 2035. Healthcare It was also terrifying to think that - without quality health insurance - I would not have been able to  afford the treatment I needed.  I would not be living the life I am today. Healthcare Medicare for All is clearly the only health care plan that puts patients first: It guarantees health care for life, with free choice of hospitals and providers, and no financial firewalls to stand in the way of care. Drug Policy Legalize marijuana while expunging records. Criminal Justice / Public Safety The money bail system in the United States criminalizes poverty. More than 60 percent of the people who sit in jail at any given time have not even been convicted of crimes. They simply can’t afford to buy their freedom while they await their trial. As such, we must end this system for all those but extreme cases. Instead, judges should work to rely more on objective risk assessments in their pretrial decisions. Criminal Justice / Public Safety End for-profit prison contracts. Government Reform I also support the proposed DISCLOSE Act which requires organizations spending money in elections to promptly disclose donors who have given $10,000 or higher during an election cycle. Education My plan would make all public colleges tuition-free and cancel up to $50K in student debt. In doing so, we would be able to address both the front-end and back-end of the problem - attending college and paying for it. Wages / Job Benefits Raising the minimum wage to $26 an hour will finally change the notion that it is OKAY for people to live paycheck to paycheck. Businesses will also save money through reduced turnover and increased worker productivity. Raising the minimum wage benefits all of us—it reduces poverty levels, reduces crime, and overall improves local communities!
