Immigration I am personally against unchecked immigration. If someone comes to the U.S. through the proper channels and is willing to become a part of American society and become productive members of that society I am very supportive of that. I don’t agree with strangers coming through the door without being property vetted. Most people I know would not allow a stranger to walk up to their door and just run right into their private home so we shouldn’t continue to allow that behavior from our Federal government. Honestly, it is an issue of national security at this point. Education I personally believe that a lot of things that used to be an important part of our education are now missing from it that should not be. Critical thinking skills is one of those things as is a true understanding of how our government was meant to operate. There are many complaints from parents and teachers alike that seems to be causing dissention within the community around this issue. Abortion / Contraception I am pro-choice on this issue. It is not personally my main concern, but it is a main concern for many of the people in District 9. Guns I am pro second amendment because I am an avid student of history all over the world. History proves and current international geopolitical events continue to prove that the founders of this nation were correct. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I am pro police because I still believe in justice. I think our police have become demonized by mainstream talking points. Not to say that there isn’t racism that comes into play at times, but this is not a reason to demonize all of law enforcement. Civil Rights Gay Marriage – I am for it, but at the same time I disagreed with a Christian owned store being told they should have to create a cake for a client that went against their own values. There are plenty of other establishments that have similar values that offer the same product. People need to learn to accept each other’s differences and move on.
