Environment / Energy The Covina BESS Project can bring runaway fires, evacuations, & toxicity to the City, which is being moved forward without a comprehensive environmental review. Dr. Sérráno would require such a review and/or prevent billionaire corporations from extracting the land in Covina for exploitation. Taxes / Budget City funds, grants & allocated emergency funds should be used to provide supplemental support for childcare, groceries, weather, & catastrophic crises, and provide basic needs to residents. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Safety and legal aid resources should be provided to residents that reflect the diversity of Covina, including more social workers to support domestic violence survivors & families impacted. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Traffic collisions with pedestrians, bikes, and other vehicles due to speeding are a major concern, especially in District 5 near parks & school properties. Bri’s own neighborhood recently had a death due to speeding. Taxes / Budget The city Utility User Tax should be removed for all residents due to triple taxation. Healthcare Medical nonprofits should meet residents where they are for supplemental care by the city.
