Environment / Energy Forcing New York residents off an already reliable and cost effective source to a state mandated alternative is both costly to the ratepayer and a violation of New Yorker’s property rights. Slater opposes any and all legislation to force New Yorkers off their existing systems. Slater also rejects the plans of out of state corporations and New York City bureaucrats to destroy prime soil in our region through Communist Chinese backed industrial solar. Environment / Energy The push for New York to ban fossil fuels is unreliable, unsustainable and irresponsible. Education Slater is a strong supporter of vocational training programs, such as BOCES and as a Cayuga Community College graduate he also supports informing students of the more cost effective degrees available to students within the SUNY system. Education Schools should be focused on preparing students to succeed, not sowing discord between or among children. Slater opposes the use of Marxist ideology to divide New York youth by race, class and sexual identity. Economy Slater will be on the frontlines advocating for agriculture-friendly policies, eliminating burdensome regulations on farmers, expanding broadband internet to rural areas and support measures such as the Nourish-NY program which help farmers provide local, healthy food to underserved and food-insecure areas within the state. Economy Slater will free our State’s job creators from the shackles of burdensome government regulations and cut taxes that stifle investment and eat away at family budgets. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Slater stands by our local police officers, corrections officers and first responders. Slater will back the blue by fully funding the police. Slater will make our jails and prisons safer by working to repeal the HALT Act. Slater will strengthen our fire districts by increasing the income tax deduction for our volunteer firefighters. Slater will advocate for our 911 operators by working to reduce the years needed for retirement benefits from 30 years to 20 years and Slater will advocate for policies that help our nurses and EMT professionals also. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Slater will be tough on crime, keep our jails open and lock criminals behind bars. Taxes / Budget Slater will free our State’s job creators from the shackles of burdensome government regulations and cut taxes that stifle investment and eat away at family budgets. Guns Gun ownership is important to safeguard against both individual threats and governmental tyranny. Slater is a staunch defender of the Constitution and will ensure the government never infringes on our God-given rights. Immigration New York must have a strong Northern border. Abortion / Contraception Family is the bedrock of society and Slater believes in taking every measure possible to promote strong families and help women and children across New York in need. Slater will fight for greater access to maternal healthcare, crisis pregnancy resources, paid family leave and stronger job opportunities for our families. Defense / Veterans Slater will work to ensure that our veterans have the services and benefits they need and deserve. He will also partner with local, state and federal agencies in the mission to end homelessness for our veterans.
