Abortion / Contraception In the wake of the devastating Supreme Court Dobbs decision overturning the fifty-year precedent of Roe v. Wade, Carlos partnered with Planned Parenthood and state lawmakers to enshrine the right to abortion in the state constitution during his time as executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) California Action, the state’s flagship civil rights and civil liberties advocacy organization. In the Assembly, Carlos will continue to defend our fundamental rights, including access to quality reproductive healthcare. Guns Carlos championed new investments in public safety and crime prevention in response to the K Street mass shooting. In the Assembly, Carlos will pass laws to restrict weapons of war, limit magazine capacity, and restrict difficult-to-trace ghost guns.
