My Top Issues
Housing
Renton is a city where over half our residents rent, and they deserve security and dignity. I will continue to push for expanded renter protections, increased housing availability at all income levels, and transit-oriented development that keeps our city accessible. Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home, whether you rent or own.
Civil Rights
As Renton’s first openly queer City Councilmember, I know what it means to fight for belonging. I will keep advancing inclusive policies that protect our LGBTQ and immigrant communities, from sanctuary city measures and translation access to equitable city hiring and anti-discrimination protections. Our diversity is our strength, and every Renton resident deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.
Criminal Justice / Public Safety
Public safety should be rooted in community trust, accountability, and care. I will continue advocating for expanded investments in co-responder models that pair mental and behavioral health professionals with first responders, helping de-escalate crises and reduce unnecessary incarceration. This approach ensures that those experiencing mental health or substance use crises are met with support, not just punishment.
Environment / Energy
Renton is home to incredible natural spaces and we must protect and activate them. I support increased investment in our parks, green spaces, and trail systems, not only for environmental preservation but for recreation and community wellness. I also support bringing a premier mountain biking trail to Southeast King County, right here in Renton, boosting tourism, small business, and youth activity.
