Chula Vista City Council - District 1

Top Issues

Social Services I’m leading efforts to bring a senior center to District 1 - a welcoming space where our older adults can stay active, supported and connected. This center will also help seniors navigate city and county programs, access the resources they need, and have a real voice in our community. Social Services Too often, people don't know about the resources and opportunities available to them — from city services and business support to commission positions and assistance programs. I am committed to bringing city hall closer to our residents and making sure people know what's available and can easily access the help they need. Economy A strong local economy begins with thriving small businesses and access to quality jobs close to home. I will prioritize streamlining city processes, expanding access to funding and capital, and advancing policies that help small businesses start, grow, and succeed in District 1 and throughout Chula Vista. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I will continue ensuring our public safety personnel have the support and resources they need to keep our communities safe. Housing I am committed to advancing housing solutions that serve all income levels - from workforce housing to first-time homebuyer opportunities - while ensuring developments include the infrastructure investments needed to protect our current residents’ quality of life. Social Services I will continue to work with our city staff, nonprofit providers, and regional partners to expand access to shelter, supportive services, and long-term housing solutions— ensuring our unhoused population can receive the help they need to live with dignity, while we maintain safe, welcoming neighborhoods for all residents. Education As new industries come to Chula Vista, I want to make sure our young people and adults have real pathways to those jobs. I will work to create partnerships with labor unions, local businesses, and our higher education institution to develop apprenticeships and training programs — so residents can learn skills, earn good wages, and build successful careers right here at home. Infrastructure / Transportation I'm committed to maintaining our streets, sidewalks, and roads so residents can move through their neighborhoods safely and easily — because when families feel secure, they thrive.
