Crystal Fletcher

I should probably start by telling you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Fraser. I was quite active in my high school “career”, having been involved in a plethora of extracurriculars. I enjoyed everything from performing in the theatre productions to swimming and diving, from National Honor Society to Fraser Singers, from Link Crew to track and field. All the while, I kept my academics up and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a full ride academic scholarship.to Wayne State University. All this to say, I'm used to staying active and enjoy a challenge. Even more so, I so very much enjoyed and appreciate what our public schools are capable of and the importance of quality education and extracurriculars. I moved out of Fraser while renting as an adult but, when it came time to buy a home, my husband and I both agreed that this city is a community we would like to be a part of. There's been something about the small town feel of this city that has always drawn me in, and I hope I can do our city justice by serving it. I graduated from Wayne State University with a BS of Psychology. I began working in the ophthalmic field in 2013 and have attained knowledge within the field over the years, starting as a medical scribe. For the past 6 years, I've been the Corneal Crosslinking and Refractive Services Coordinator with Fraser Eye Care/Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center. Long story short…I'm an ophthalmic/laser technician that deals in a number of eye lasers, amongst a variety of other tasks. I thoroughly enjoy my job and that I can also serve my community through my employment as well! My mom was a Hanover Grove Cooperative resident for 49 years until her death this year. She was always SO proud to live in the city of Fraser. I had mentioned possibly running shortly before she passed. Her reaction was “I don't know. I don't want anyone to be mean to my baby. But I know you'll do great. You do great at anything you do.” Always looking out for my feelings. I hope I can make her proud by representing our city and uplifting our community. There's open space owned by the city next to Meijer that I would like to see utilized as a dog park. There are plenty of folks that utilize the the normal parks for their dogs, so I think it would be a great opportunity to have a dog-focused park as well.
