Criminal Justice / Public Safety Tackling root causes of crime – like addiction or mental health issues – through partnerships, not just arrests. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I pledge that my administration and I will work a minimum of one night shift a month at no added cost to the taxpayers; that means ‘boots on the ground’ covering calls for service. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I pledge to expand our outreach programs, encouraging our deputies to get out into the community and be a presence at charity events, school functions, and town halls. If we are here to serve the community, we should be an integral part of the community. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Mental health services at both the patrol and corrections level are crucial. If you are able to address a problem at the outset and provide individuals with resources, it becomes much less likely that individuals in crisis will engage in criminal conduct. This reduction in criminality reduces the workload for our officers and corrections staff, allowing them to better serve our community. As Sheriff, I would work to expand mental health care as a preventative measure to better serve the common good.
