Infrastructure / Transportation In December of 2021, heavy rains caused a mud flow into the park. More than eight feet of mud buried Wilderness Park paths, picnic tables, trees, and facilities. The storm also washed away a portion of the Los Angeles County’s bridge into Wilderness Park. Now, almost 3 years later, the park still remains closed. It is time to push this restoration project forward and restore the park to its rustic, natural beauty. Housing There was a time when it was REQUIRED by law that as a city you had to offer housing if you wanted to enforce a "No Camping" law. That changed earlier this year with a ruling from the US Supreme Court. Now, with the backing of Gov. Newson's mandate that California cities must clean out Homeless Encampments, Arcadia doesn't need Tiny Homes in order to enforce our "No Camping" law. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Eisenhower Park is supposed to be for the enjoyment of the residents of Arcadia. But with the increasing number of homeless living along the wash, it is becoming less and less inviting to families. As a City Council member, I vow that there will be regular sweeps of the area to remove homeless encampments in and around the park. Criminal Justice / Public Safety We need to protect ourselves and our families. The crime that has been creeping into our city needs to be stopped. I am not afraid to say it, "Homeless encampments bring crime into our city". By enforcing the "No Camping" law and proactive police work, we can send the message, "If you come to Arcadia and commit a crime, you're going to jail" Social Services Our children are the most important treasures that we hold. As a parent and City Council member, I will always work to add new enrichment programs throughout the city.
