Economy Beaumont's downtown has a lot of potential for growth and re-development. As a supporter of our downtown revitalization, I am committed to purchasing city land (where possible and equitable), offering incentives to downtown businesses, and streamlining approval processes to help stimulate growth in the heart of Beaumont. Together, we can create a thriving downtown that benefits the entire community. Infrastructure / Transportation The city's general plan is our guiding tool that governs our zoning. It is where we will allow or not allow certain development. A hot topic example is warehouses. I strongly oppose any warehouse next to residential. We have a place for warehouses in our General Plan and that's south of the 60 Fwy on the west side of town away from everything else. I also realize that we have state requirements for affordable housing and I support this zoning in it's proper location as well. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I support our Beaumont Police Department's Homeless Liaison program which is dedicated to providing support to those in need while addressing issues related to petty theft and drug use. By working with both homeless individuals and transients, we aim to create a safer and more secure community for all. With the right tools and resources that I support, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling while also promoting a safer environment for everyone. Wages / Job Benefits As a council member, I value our city employees and recognize the importance of attracting and retaining top talent. I believe in providing equitable pay for all staff members. By doing so, we can ensure that our employees feel valued and motivated to continue to provide excellent service to our community. I will continue to support the use of a "class & comp" study to ensure we are not overpaying or underpaying our city employees. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I support voting Yes on Prop 36. Economy Our Beaumont Nights "market night" in downtown during the summer of 2024 was a huge success. I will advocate to continue this with the goal of having it in the Spring & Fall. I will continue to support innovative ways to attract and retain quality business in Beaumont that not only bring revenue to the city but encourage those businesses that will enhance and contribute to the high quality of life that we here in Beaumont expect. I will continue to support our downtown business incentives as well. Defense / Veterans As a US Army Veteran I am deeply grateful for those who have served their country and I will continue to pay tribute to their service and sacrifice by continuing to support our Veteran's Expo, Veteran's Day Parade & Celebration along with the remodel of our Veteran's and Fallen Heroes Memorial Plaza. Infrastructure / Transportation I also support re-evaluating our truck routes through the city to improve traffic flow. Taxes / Budget I am dedicated to ensuring that our city's funds are spent wisely to promote growth and development of our community. I will prioritize efficient and effective spending while always keeping the best interests of our citizens in mind. Criminal Justice / Public Safety As a community, we owe it to our department to provide them with the best resources possible to keep us safe. It's clear our current police department building is no longer sufficient for their needs, which is why I fully support the effort for a new police station. A centrally located station near our high school would not only benefit our officers but also provide a sense of security for our students and families. I also support our Citizens Academy who's goal is to foster better communication between citizens and police through education. Government Reform Residential housing is a drain on city services and city finances due to a poor annexation agreement with the county of Riverside therefore I am not in favor of annexing additional land to the city of Beaumont for residential growth. I will continue to advocate for a new agreement with the county and will continue promoting growth in other areas such as commercial, retail & industrial which tend to provide the city with revenue above the required cost of city services.
