Economy Pursue practical, creative ways to ease the burden of overregulation, which is making it harder for farmers to survive and prosper. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I am committed to a justice system focused on accountability, collaboration, rehabilitation, and prevention. We must address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, lack of education, and mental health issues, and provide people with the tools they need to break free from cycles of crime and addiction. Even as we work to help people break these cycles, we must also hold those who break the law accountable. Housing Faster, more predictable permitting at the county level for responsible development in unincorporated areas. Taxes / Budget Reducing costs where possible and identifying sustainable, long-term savings. Housing Affordable housing for seniors, especially those on fixed or low incomes, who are one of the fastest-growing and most vulnerable demographics in Yolo County. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I support Proposition 36, which prioritizes treatment over incarceration for nonviolent offenders with mental illness or addiction. Programs like Mental Health Court and the Restorative Justice Partnership (RJP) offer alternatives to traditional court proceedings, focusing on healing and reducing recidivism. Infrastructure / Transportation As we face challenges with water supply and sustainability, we must manage this resource responsibly to ensure it continues to be available for farmers, residents, and our ecosystem. Environment / Energy Protect wildlife and natural habitat, recognizing that healthy ecosystems and a strong agricultural economy go hand in hand. Housing Partnerships with cities to encourage more infill and higher-density housing that uses land wisely and protects open space. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I support our law enforcement personnel and first responders and will work to make sure they have the resources and training necessary to respond effectively to emergencies. I also advocate for ongoing training in de-escalation, mental health response, and community engagement to strengthen relationships within our communities. Taxes / Budget Strengthening our general reserve and safeguarding essential county funds. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Rural fire districts are vital to the safety of Yolo County’s unincorporated areas. These districts, often composed mostly of volunteers, are the heart of their communities. They not only protect us, but they also serve as the glue that binds these communities together. Although these districts are mostly independent and secure their own funding, they still face significant challenges. I am firmly committed to supporting them and helping ensure their long-term sustainability. Taxes / Budget Making difficult but necessary budget reductions to restore long-term stability.
