Fun Fact
I love to golf. I consider a good round to be where I have two or three good holes. Keeps me coming back for more. I guess I am a glutton for punishment. I also love to ride my motorcycle. Over the last 15 years, I have ridden about 100,000 miles. We have 4 awesome dogs, but the little one, a Bichon Frise, has claimed me as his human. We are the epitome of Mutt and Jeff -- I am 6'3". And for some reason, my nieces and nephews refer to me as Uncle Sasquatch.
Past Experience
I have been a resident of Fayetteville for 19 years. During that time, I spent the last 10 years of a 28 year career serving our country as an officer in the United States Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel; and 8.5 years as a government contractor. My time was split between Atlanta, DC/MD/VA, and the Middle East. Currently, I am the Co-CEO/COO and co-founder of a high-tech startup company (est 2021) focusing on clean energy. Two generations of our family have gone through the Fayetteville education system, one of the best in the state. Involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Active participant in CoCo's Cupboard, Tails of Hope, and TAO canine organizations. Affectionately known as "the Mayor" in numerous circles due to my ability to communicate with most anybody on any subject.
My main focus is to help Fayetteville grow responsibly taking into consideration the desire to attract younger couples, bring sustainable jobs/careers to the area, and improve infrastructure all in a fiscally responsible manner.
My Top Issues
Promoting renewable energy initiatives
The reality is that fossil fuels are limited. We need to start looking at alternative energy solutions now. We can be a leader in the county and the state. Also, last I recall, Georgia had the most green space per capita in the U.S. I want to keep it that way. Promoting small business endeavors into renewable energy would be a great way to attract and retain talent in Fayetteville.
Streamlining business licensing and permitting
Investigate and potentially limit third party licensing of local business permits. Encourage landlords to charge reasonable rents to local businesses.
Balance development with neighborhood preservation
My position is that we do a through analysis of the impacts of building more housing; don't stop at the obvious impacts, but look at the second and third order effects. Further, do everything reasonable to bury lines to minimize the intrusion on personal property. Clean up the city as part of the plan to attract new business.
