Fun Fact
We recently go a dog named Coco, a brown standard poodle and can be seen many mornings walking her around Lake Arbor
Past Experience
I've worked in the parking and parking structure design/restoration industry for the last couple years, and before that I also designed and inspected bridges. I know how to look at infrastructure and prioritize our city's repairs, maintenance and new build. Many projects that I was a designer or manager for totaled into the tens or hundreds of millions.
I was also a series 7 broker in the early 2000s and understand equities, bonds and other financial systems which are essential for managing a $384 million dollar budget with the city.
I was teacher with Aurora public schools for 4 years while back in school for engineering. I also taught and led a GED class for juvenile offenders with Denver Probation for several years during that same time period.
I have lived in Arvada since 2018 and have two boys in the Jeffco Schools, where my wife is also a teacher.
My Top Issues
Addressing aging infrastructure in residential areas
Arvada had some of the worst rated roads by the ASCE. As an Engineer myself I would like to oversee the steady and complete maintenance of our roads and parks
Balance development with neighborhood preservation
I don't think Arvada should give way to mid-rise development, and keep the single-family home character
I understand this comes at the expense of "affordable housing"
Clean and safe streets
This is almost our number one priority. We cannot allow homeless to wallow in the streets and severely cripple business particularly in Olde Town Arvada, but also up north in my district
Who I'm Running Against
Randy Moorman (Democrat Party)
Arvada's first openly gay city council member. He expresses some concern with overdevelopment, but ultimately sides with their demands. Works for a non-profit waste recycler in a neighboring progressive community.
Good guy, good communicator, we have friendly relationship.
I did not want to see him run unopposed for reelection
