Criminal Justice / Public Safety Adequate Jail Capacity Shasta County must have enough beds to safely detain violent offenders while ensuring that individuals who genuinely need treatment can be routed to the right programs. Public safety and mental health are not competing priorities — they are interconnected. Healthcare The Sheriff’s Rehabilitation Campus A secure, treatment-focused alternative for individuals struggling with addiction or mental health crises. This facility will disrupt the cycle of arrest–release–repeat and finally give deputies and clinicians the tools they need. Healthcare The True North Behavioral Health Center A regional behavioral health facility designed for the North State’s real needs — not political narratives. This center will expand access to crisis stabilization, long-term treatment, and psychiatric care so people receive help before tragedy occurs. Healthcare Functioning Emergency Rooms Hospitals should be able to operate as hospitals. Nurses should not fear for their safety. People in crisis should not be warehoused in hallways. I support solutions that relieve pressure on emergency departments by redirecting behavioral health cases to appropriate, secure, medically supervised facilities.
