Education Home Schoolers are County residents. And parents who decide to home school their children will not become second class students under my leadership. I will seek out tools, funding, and other support to ease the administrative burden of home schooling your child or children. Education Salaries, Money, and Budgets are taboo subjects and typically reduced to very short sentences that do not really explain the funding problems that district face. As an Analyst, I will work to post simplified budget descriptions to help Mohave County Residents in the district understand how and where their tax money is spent. Education Posting of Curriculum in original and translated form is one of my core plans. I have worked with the State Standards and I feel that the standards are written above the level of the average parent and student. Newspapers are written at about 9th grade level, so should standards. Education Every year performance data is published and nice letter grade placards are available for public posting. My plan is to consolidate data and information and display the data for each district. The data will be broken down by district, school, grade, and subject. The public will be able to compare how the local districts are performing recently and over time. Education Our County has very small districts to the two largest unified districts in Kingman and Lake Havasu. I will work with all districts to build priceworthy service, maintenance, and education contracts that are beneficial to all participating districts. Work with districts to help identify critical needs at the district and county levels and find resources to help solve those and other outstanding issues. Education Parental Involvement and Control of children’s education is one of the keys to improving classroom outcomes. Parents should have the final say in what optional curriculum is available for their child. And not one child is the “property” of a school district.
