Fun Fact
I am a devoted father, husband, coach, pastor, counselor, realtor, and lover of life. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Mary Hollingsworth, for 23 years, and together we have been blessed with three amazing children. As a family, we enjoy traveling, camping, exercising, reading, dancing, and simply spending quality time together.
In my personal time, I love reading and helping others grow and mature in life. For the past 21 years, I have served as an educator in Hoke County Schools, dedicating my entire career to inspiring and guiding students. In addition, I have been honored to serve as a pastor for the past 18 years, walking alongside people in their spiritual journeys and life challenges. My Top Issues
Invest in local public education
Our children deserve every opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, and that starts with a clear and intentional partnership between our city and our schools. To achieve this, we must provide our teachers with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in the classroom. Teachers are the foundation of our educational system, and when we empower them, we empower our students. From modern teaching resources to expanded professional development, the city has a role to play in strengthening the connection between education and community success.
Invest in infrastructure, create jobs
Strong infrastructure is the backbone of a thriving community. We must create a long-term, sustainable plan to address parking and other downtown challenges while also meeting the needs of our rural areas. From expanding high-speed internet to every home and business, to improving transportation options across our region, these investments will strengthen connections and expand opportunities for all residents.
Our city and surrounding communities deserve infrastructure that is modern, safe, and reliable. That means fixing rural roads and bridges, ensuring clean drinking water and basic sanitation, upgrading electricity and transmission systems, and providing the tools necessary for growth in the 21st century. These improvements are not just about convenience—they are about safety, health, and economic opportunity.
By making historic investments today, we can create good-paying jobs that clean up pollution, modernize our community, and prepare us for the future. Together, we can build communities that are resilient to all hazards, including the impacts of climate change, and ensure that the foundation we lay today supports generations to come.
Attracting and retaining businesses
Every city must take intentional steps toward progress, and ours is no different. To secure a stronger future, we must prioritize the growth of our local economy. That means supporting our small businesses—the backbone of our community—while also seeking larger partnerships that bring new opportunities, jobs, and resources to our city.
I believe in making strategic investments that will not only strengthen our economy today but also be felt for generations to come. By creating an environment where small businesses can thrive and by attracting new industries, we set the stage for sustainable growth that benefits everyone.
The foundation we build now will guarantee future expansion and open the door to greater possibilities. With thoughtful planning and collaboration, we can position our city to be a place where businesses grow, families prosper, and opportunities are within reach for all.
