Wages / Job Benefits Starting with City facilties for city workers, we will provide full service childcare and develop a workforce training program to staff municipal centers open to the public through our Parks and Recreation department. Every family deserves access to affordable childcare. Economy Working with the Office of Economic Vitality we will create local business incubator zones for startups with smaller footprints that are affordable for locals and launch a new era of brick-and-mortar shops paired with lending backed by economic development dollars. Environment / Energy Every new development doesn’t need to start with clear cutting heritage oaks and forests. We will work through planning principles that perserve our environment and are economically achievable to homebuilders. Housing As hedge funds buy up neighborhoods and mobile home parks, low-income renters are particularly squeezed. We will build 500 municipal units accessible to all income levels including those below the poverty line. Economy We will convene a Blue Ribbon Business Panel to consistently make recommendations for improvement and every new business will receive a dedicated liaison through the entire permitting process. Economy We’ll also ensure local artists and musicians can thrive economically by bringing them together—along with venue owners and small business partners—to help guide how resources are distributed and keep creativity sustainable in our city. Infrastructure / Transportation We will reprioritize spending that subsidizes sprawl to our existing neighborhoods to build sidewalks, parks, landscaping and resurface roadways. Environment / Energy We will expand our beloved Canopy Roads by adding new treelined roadways to the gateways of our city. We will further expand our robust trail system to include outdoor working paths with adequate shade and cover. Economy We will cut the time to receive a permit in half while slashing regulations that don’t serve the safety of the public or environmental protection. Environment / Energy We will expand our parks and greenways and add splash pads and other water features to existing parks to keep our recreational facilities cool and accessible. Arts / Culture Around town we will see more murals, sculptures, and performances and work with local businesses to seed small venues and festival programming that draws regional visitors.
