Los Angeles City Mayor

Top Issues

Economy Los Angeles will take center stage as the world arrives. We must be ready with upgraded infrastructure, efficient transportation, and a clean, vibrant city that makes every Angeleno proud. Success will require coordination, planning, and collaboration, but we will deliver. Housing There is no one-size-fits-all solution. We need housing that meets the needs of families, single adults, seniors, and individuals with pets. Economy Filming in Los Angeles should be efficient, not burdensome. By simplifying permits, reducing excessive fees, and modernizing processes, we can make it easier for productions to choose LA and stay here. Los Angeles must maintain the crown jewel as the creative hub of the world. Housing Increase density along major boulevards and near transit hubs to support smart, connected communities. Infrastructure / Transportation LA needs more buses to decrease wait times for passengers. We also need dedicated rapid transit corridors for buses so they get from point A to point B with as few stops as possible. Taxes / Budget With the taxes our community contributes, we must prioritize responsible spending and maintain a balanced budget. Smart financial management is essential to building a stronger future. Infrastructure / Transportation We need to step up bike culture in LA! We need a web of bike lanes all across Los Angeles, that connects every neighborhood, from downtown to the beach from the Valley to the Westside and everywhere in between. We need bike corridors so people feel safe, a built-out network of separation between bikes and vehicles. Everyone in LA should have a safe and reliable option to ride a bike through-out the city. Housing Cut red tape and streamline processes so individuals can quickly access interim and permanent housing. Healthcare Increase access to mental health care and addiction treatment centers, safe places where people can receive the help they need. The streets are not a solution. Economy We must stop runaway production and attract projects back to Los Angeles. Competitive tax incentives and credits are essential to keeping film, television, and music production rooted here, rather than losing them to other cities and states. Arts / Culture The Olympic spirit should unite us. By promoting citywide initiatives around fitness, art, and culture, we can inspire residents to engage, grow, and connect. Establishing a dedicated council will help bring these efforts to life and create opportunities for all Angelenos to participate. Housing We need to build and we need to build now. Cut the red tape and streamline approvals to accelerate responsible development. Housing Establish clear standards for rent increases that keep housing affordable while protecting the rights of property owners. Environment / Energy Need to focus on storm drain capture runoff so trash does not make it to the ocean. Mouths of rivers and streams should have trash capture facilities, like the Ballona Creek Interceptor in Playa Del Rey. Infrastructure / Transportation It’s time to repair our streets and modernize aging infrastructure. Strategic capital improvements will not only enhance daily life but also create jobs and support long-term growth. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Expand the number of sworn officers and invest in recruitment and retention. Currently we are far behind New York and Chicago. Environment / Energy We need to plant 500,000 new trees! This will help with the canopy of LA, cleanse our air and create a more walkable environment. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Hire top-tier firefighters and ensure they have the facilities, equipment, and resources needed to respond effectively.
